Safe 03:30
In the mountains and the valleys In the summer, on your porch swing We'll pretend that we won't entertain the end All the houses and the photos That we bought, for a quarter And the boat that we built when we were ten In the walls and the borders We'll forget about tomorrow Lock the doors, close the blinds and walk away From the chips on the shoulders Of our fathers and our mothers It's not what we wanted, but it's safe So we worked a little harder And we moved a little farther From the porch that we sat on yesterday Took the fence from our parents yard And stuck it next to our front door It was white, but we will get it stained Cause we're not like the ones who raised us up Sat us down and told us, "Son, you'll go back to where you're from." "You'll go back to where you're frommmmmmm!"

We hope that it will stick But we cannot predict it We will make it there, I know Put boxes in the car Life in a million parts They'll come together, I know By and large, by and large, I'm home By and large, by and large, I'm home Our diamond in the rough Could be the lucky one Might bring us back, but I don't know By and large, by and large, I'm home By and large, by and large, I'm home By and large, by and large, I'm home By and large, by and large, I'm home And when I'm lost, I'll find my way I'll find it, oh, I'll find it (x4) By and large, by and large, I'm home (And when I'm lost, I'll find my way) By and large, by and large, I'm home (I'll find it, oh, I'll find it) By and large, by and large, I'm home (And when I'm lost, I'll find my way) By and large, by and large, I'm home (I'll find it, oh, I'll find it)

Reruns 03:39
Fast asleep on the ground, watching reruns Keep the lights on, cause we're so young Fast asleep in the middle of the night, watching reruns The world is turning, but we're so done Wake in the morning, still on the ground, We're worse off than earlier, this time around Stay, with our eyes closed we will pray, That things will change in a day And now we are hoping, Sleeping and throwing away On New Year's Day Wide awake watching TV from the fort Watching doctors fix men in the war Wide awake, lying on the floor Switch to the news, don't know what for Wake in the morning, still on the ground, We're worse off than earlier, this time around Stay, with our eyes closed we will pray, That things will change in a day And now we are hoping, Sleeping and throwing away On New Year's Day Stay, with our eyes closed we will pray, That things will change in a day And now we are hoping, Sleeping and throwing away On New Year's Day

White River 03:52
Falling down from the branch to the water We climbed so high that we can't see down From the heights, from the tallest ladder We've swam so far, we can't go back now Falling down to the white river, honey, Our eyes are open, but you can't see out Looking up to the great above And the whole worlds looking down Going down to the white river, honey, I fall (Down in the white river, honey) Going down to the white river, honey, I fall (Down in the white river, honey) Going down to the white river, honey, I fall (Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh) Going down to the white river, honey Took a breath, then we broke the surface With liquid eyes and porcelain views Tippy toes never reach the bottom, I've got them stretching, ready to bloom Falling down to the white river, honey, Our eyes are open, but you can't see out Looking up to the great above And the whole worlds looking down Going down to the white river, honey, I fall (Down in the white river, honey) Going down to the white river, honey, I fall (Down in the white river, honey) Going down to the white river, honey, I fall (Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh) Going down to the white river, honey Now the hardest part is over, we're floating down We were young but now we're older and figured out That the hardest part is over, we're floating down We were young but now we're older and figured out That the hardest part is over, we're floating down We were young but now we're older and figured out That the hardest part is over, we're floating down We were young but now we're older and figured out Going down to the white river, honey, I fall Going down to the white river, honey Going down to the white river, honey Going down to the white river, honey, I fall

Simple 04:41
I was overthinking, with thoughts in my head How simple it is I was over breathing, with chills down my neck How simple it is To stay here, right here Inside, with you I want to stay here, right here Inside, with you Dah, dah, duh duh, duh, duh Are you close to dreaming, with pillows in bed Try to sleep in We'll nap in the morning, through the AM Cause it makes sense To stay here, right here Inside, with you I want to stay here, right here Inside, with you Dah, dah, duh duh, duh, duh *insert awesome trumpet courtesy of Bailey Barkdull* *insert birds courtesy of the great outdoors*

about

This self-produced EP was written by two people living hundreds of miles away from home, and tries to capture that feeling through a five-song story.

The making of this EP has been a 7 month process of writing, recording, and Sour Patch Kids. Although it draws influence from folk bands such as The Head and the Heart and Caroline Smith and the Goodnight Sleeps, the Garage Sales EP is a culmination of much more than that. By combining honest lyrics and raw instrumentation with an endearing sense of optimism, we hope to connect to listeners who have shared similar experiences and feelings as those we write about. The bird samples at the beginning and end of the album are from good ol' Anderson, Indiana, recorded on a beautiful early spring morning.
